What Have We Done Wrong?!!!

What in the world have we done wrong? We've raised our kids to be good responsible human beings. We've tried to teach them right from wrong. And then comes Walker. It is such a heart break to a parent when a child goes astray. And at such a young age too. But to "diss" on our beloved Cougars and talk smack about them is just over the top. And then, the straw that breaks the camels back is...dare I say it? He is a Boise State Fan. It cuts deep. We've tried to turn him back to the light side. And I blame all of this on his uncle, Craig Morrison. We were driving through Boise a few weeks ago and passed the Boise State Football Stadium. He said,'Will you please take me there?" Kevin abruptly said,"No, I am not taking you there." Walker replied," Uncle Craig would take me." Good for Dear Old #%*@! Uncle Craig. Then I thought I would use some reverse psychology on him and buy him a Boise State hat. He was so excited that he forgot to say thank you.(Just like a Bronco Fan!) Kelby said," What do you say Walker?" He quickly replied very loudly, "THANK YOU UNCLE CRAIG!!!" I can't win!

Walker Learns to Ride a Bike

Way to go Walker! We are so proud of you. And he learned with just a few battles wounds to show for it. He was especially proud of learning how to turn. Way to go Kevin, too. This was his 5th and final child to teach ride a bike and all of them were five when they learned. He's a good DAD!

So it's been a busy day. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry that Kylee is old enough to go to her first high school dance. I really want to cry. She was so excited about this dance. I can't believe how time flies. I remember when all my kids were little and someone told me that I better not blink because the time is going to fly by faster than I could ever imagine. I remember thinking...yeah right. Well, it's true. And it continues to fly. But what a fun time and I have such amazing kids. Sorry for being sappy. It's just one of those nights.
The kids had a great time playing in the snow today. And it's still snowing. Unbelievable!

Oh! The weather outside is frightful!!!

Wow! I am not ready for this. It's been snowing for at least 8 hours and it's only noon right now. The wind is blowing and boy is it cold. What happened to fall. Brigham our dog is not too happy about this either. Especially when he has to leave his nice warm bed to go out and go potty. We did get him a sweater though. Anyway, it looks more like Christmas than Halloween. Kevin asked if I wanted him to put up the Christmas Tree. I think he thought I would say no. Has he forgotten who he's married too?

What a crazy night! It was 25 degrees outside. My camera was totally freezing up. I am not ready for winter at all. Anyway, our homecoming game was kind of a downer. We killed them 68-0. In 8 man football they have a mercy rule of 45 points. But you have to at least play a full half. Well as you can tell by the pictures that it was a very long first half. Take note of the clock on the score board. And how much time has elapsed. They fumbled on their first three possessions deep in their own territory which set us up for some quick scores. The coaches were scratching their heads wondering how to handle this situation. They had our quarterback take a knee on a two point conversion. They had the kicker purposely kick it to get a penalty and give them better field position. Our senior quarterback didn't even get to play the second quarter for his own homecoming. It was so sad. With 4:14 left in the 1st quarter the score was 48-0. Pathetic. The coaches only went to the air three times the entire game, otherwise it would have been worse. And the clincher, our Athletic Director, with permission from the officiators, told the scorekeeper to let the clock run during the second quarter. WoW!!! The halftime show turned into the postgame show and was the highlight of the evening. The Drill team danced and then we had an amazing fireworks show. It was quite impressive. If you look at the picture of Kelby where it looks like she is getting hit, you can see her breath. It was so stinking cold!!! They were troopers for cheering and dancing. And as always, so fun to watch. The last pic if of Ky and Kelby with Kelb kicking Ky's fanny. Kelby loves that part.

Homecoming Pep Assembly

Today was the Homecoming assembly. And boy was it a riot!!! We started off by serving the entire studentbody ice cream cones, with the ice cream donated by Gossner's and the United Dairymen. A big thanks to Whiteley's and Robinson's for their help and generosity. Then they started in with the assembly. Kylee and Kelby cheered and danced. I ran out of space for all the pictures I wanted to do on this post so you'll have to use your imagination. Then came the activity. They asked for 10 boys to volunteer and then they had to pick a girl for a partner. As you can see the girls were given shaving cream and had to see who could do the best hair do on the guys. But the surprise was that after the girls were finished making fools out of the boys then it was the boys turn. Hilarious!!! Anyway, this is Kylee and her partner Weston Cooper, who also happens to be Kylee's date to Homecoming. Kelby says he's a Hottie!!! Anyway, it was a fun day and now we are getting ready for the big game. Except it has snowed a little today and it's supposed to get worse tonight. Yikes!!! It's gonna be cold! Go Hornets!!!

Powder Puff Football

So here we are the week of Oakley's Homecoming. The festivities have begun. One of the highlights was the Powder Puff game. And yes, that is Kylee playing. No, she wasn't supposed to play, but since when has she ever listened to her mother. And once again, she has proved that she is not capable of making a responsible decision...(which takes us back to the bull riding experience) Kylee played Quarterback and Linebacker. Kelby also played Quarterback, and I must say, the BYU football camp really did some good. I think the senior freshmen team might have won the game if they would have left the freshmen in the game more. She did great. Plus, she's just down right adorable. She wore Mark Pickett's jersey who is our A#1 quarterback. WE LOVE MARK!!! And he was kind enough to let her wear it. Kylee dawned Rhyan Greenwell's jersey. She said it was very fitting because it is Max Hall's number. She loves Football. Kylee was thrilled because her Junior/sophomore team won 18-6. Kelby...not so happy. But only for a second.

This is how we spend every Friday night in the Fall. Not a bad way to go, ay? This week was a little different though since Kylee didn't get to cheer or drill. First pic, is of Kelby of course, cheering. And second one of her dancing for the half-time/post game show. Since they mercy ruled them before half-time it ended up being the post-game show. The next pic is of the two invalids, Kylee and Hayley. Kylee, still on bed rest from Surgery and Hayley actually broke her back. So neither one was able to cheer or dance. So they decided to Superfan for the game instead. Superfan is a big deal here in Oakley, where the high school kids dress up in school colors and see who can be the most outrageous. They were given permission by the head football coach(Hayley's Dad, Nick-it pays to know people) to set up their chaise lounge chairs on the 20 yard line for the game. They had a great time. The final pic is my pic of the game. I always pick one out that seems to have some depth to it. I picked this one because of the ball position and the players knee. Score for the Hornets!!!!!

A General Conference Traditon

Once again we have our General Conference tradition. Every Conference the girls seem to think it is their bi-yearly opportunity to do Kevin's hair(which opportunities are getting fewer every year). Many of you may deem this an unworthy activity for conference. I'm here to tell you there are plenty of spiritual lessons learned here. For example, in 1Nephi 16:18, Nephi broke his "bow". In 2 Nephi 13:24 "Instead of well set hair, baldness." And how about Leviticus 13:3 "...and the hair in the plague is turned white." Let us not forget 1 Peter 3:3, "...let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting of the hair." And one that hits close to Kevin's heart, D&C 84:80, "...and a hair of his head shall not fall to the ground unnoticed." We then can move on to several other worhty topics such as patience, suffering, afflictions, enduring to the end. The list really is endless. What can I say?.... We are teaching our children such valuable lessons. And the moral of the story is..."Hair today.....gone tomorrow!"

Ky's Surgery

Well yeah it's been a rough couple of weeks. Let's see I will start from Friday night two weeks ago... So it was the night of the Raft River football game (WE WON!) and I was fine at the game and everything, but hit about 2:30 a.m. I thought I was going to die! I woke up moaning and groaning no exaggeration. Even ask Ty, he was in my room. So I just tossed and turned all night, but no way was I going to miss going to the BYU game. I went on a date with Mark Pickett and if you know me and my BYU football you know I wouldn't miss a game for the world! So anyway I was pretty much hurting all day and just trying to ignore the pain. So I get home late that night still hurting and what not but I did sleep better that night. So then Sunday comes, still hurting of course and my mom was debating taking me into the Evening Medical Center. So I went and got in the shower and said i little prayer that my mom would know if she needed to take me in. Well she comes in and says I think I wanna take you in and asked me what I thought. Of course I knew my prayer was answered. So I put some sweats on and we were off to Burley. Once I got into the doctor she asked some questions and stuff and decided that I should go get some tests done and an ultra sound at the hospital. So we had a blood and urine test and the ultra sound then they sent us back to the Evening Medical Center. Then the doctor there told us my appendix were fine and that they found some blood in my philopian(sp?) tube. She said it could cause a lot of pain and that I was ok to go home. So head home and even before we step in the door Kelby hands the phone to my mom and says its the doctor. She said the official report of the ultra sound is that they couldn't see my appendix and they wanted me to come in for a cat scan. So yes, we head back into burley again to the hospital. So we get there and the guy comes out with huge glass of gross disgusting stuff that I needed to drink before I had the cat scan, but thank goodness that right as I started to drink it the surgeon walked in. She came and asked me a few questions and felt my stomach and decided that it was best to take me to the ER and get started on the operation. So yes, they went in and took out my appendix, but along with my appendix I also had a syst that had burst so they cleaned that out too. It was very painful and I still hurt pretty bad. I had a doctors appointment last Tuesday and have another one on this Tuesday. They think it's weird that I'm still hurting and I may need a cat scan if it doesn't get better soon. But don't worry I am feeling better than I was before the surgery haha... Well that's it from me! Love ya and hope all is well! love, Ky
